Hazel GREENE Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Mrs. Hazel Felts Greene, age 82, of Harpers Drive, Newport News, Va., died Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009 at her home.
Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, at Reins-Sturdivant Chapel. Private burial will be in Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive at Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in North Wilkesboro, from 9:30 to 11 a.m., prior to the service.
Mrs. Greene was born in Wilkes County, on Sept. 2, 1927, to James and Cordelia Absher Felts. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Greene was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Franklin L. Greene; two brothers, Don Felts and Edward Felts.
Mrs. Greene is survived by three daughters, Barbara Ann Walls and husband, Jack of Bryson City, N.C., Judy Caraway and husband, Larry of Lisbon Falls, Maine, Debbie Butler and fiancE, Doug Black of Newport News; one son, Franklin Greene Jr. of the home; one sister, Ruby Royal and one brother, J. C. Felts, both of McGrady; two grandchildren, Cassie Butler and Joseph C. Butler, both of Newport News; one great-grandchild, Johnathan (John) Moore; several nieces, nephews and cousins; two very special friends, Mittie Shumate of North Wilkesboro, and Lucille Brock of Plant City, Fla.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Cane Creek Baptist Church Cemetery Fund, 2365 Cane Creek Church Road, McGrady, N.C. 28649; or to the donor's choice.
