Helen Ward Obituary

HAMPTON - Helen Sue Ward, 75, was taken away by the angels on Oct. 20, 2009.
She was born in Coffee County, Ala., but moved to Hampton in 1961 with her husband, Thomas Ward. She was an active member of Gray's Missionary Baptist Church, then later Progressive Church of Christ. She deeply touched the lives of many that knew her unconditional love and selfless giving.
She leaves to cherish her memory a husband, Thomas Ward of Hampton; six children, Jerry, Carl, Florence and Johnson, all of Virginia, Thomas of California, and Jacqueline of Colorado; four sisters, Bonnie Jackson, Hazel William and Juanita Green, all of Alabama, Mamie Berry of Mississippi; one brother, Bobbie Siler of Illinois; 14 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
A service to celebrate her life will begin at noon Monday, Oct. 26, at Church of Jesus, 630 Anderson Lane, Hampton. Interment will follow the service at Hampton Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Ward will be placed in the church at 9 a.m. Family and friends will assemble by 11 a.m., at 747 Back River Road, Hampton, for procession to the church. A viewing will be from 3 to 5 p.m. today, at Smith Brothers Funeral Home, 545 E. Mercury Blvd., Hampton – 723-4117. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.
