Hudson LIPSCOMB Obituary

KING WILLIAM - Hudson was born in Sweet Hall, Va., on Jan. 28, 1932 to Hudson and Grace Lipscomb and passed away Jan. 2, 2010.
He grew up in King William County, Va., following an Army Tour of Duty in Panama in the Panama Canal Zone.
Hudson had a long career in the Transportation and Construction Industry and Equipment Management, which took him and his young family to Winston Salem, N.C., Indianapolis, Ind., Atlanta, Ga., Houston, Texas, returning to his home state of Virginia and then working overseas in construction projects in Egypt, and various projects throughout the United States.
Hudson was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years, Marian; his brother, William (MC) Lipscomb of West Point, VA.; and a sister, Ida Dawson of Williamsburg; a son, Hudson Britt Lipscomb IV of Virginia Beach; a daughter, Pat A. Ward and son-in-law, James of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, William T. Lipscomb of North Carolina; a daughter, Kathryn Vestal of Spring Texas; a son, Michael A. Lipscomb and daughter-in-law, Michelle of West Point; a son, Gordon F. Lipscomb and a daughter-in-law, Wendy of West Point; and 11 dearly loved grandchildren, J. Michael Ward of Atlanta, Ga., Amy Ward Blackman of Annapolis, Md., Laura Lipscomb of Richmond, Karl T. Lipscomb of Richmond, Krystle Vestal of Spring, Texas, Kelli Vestal of Spring Texas, Michael A. Lipscomb Jr. of New Kent, Meagan Lipscomb of West Point, M. Justin Lipscomb of West Point, Kayla Lipscomb of West Point, and Cole Hudson Lipscomb of West Point; and three dearly loved great-grandchildren, Benjamin Michael Ward, Joseph Hudson Ward of Atlanta, Ga., and Natalie Jane Lipscomb of West Point.
The family would like to express their sincere appreciation the ICU nurses at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, and especially to Dr. Montejo and the staff at Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010, at Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, West Point, Va. Burial will follow in St. Theresa Cemetery. The family will receive friends Monday from 6 to 8 p.m., with a Christian vigil at 7 p.m. at Vincent Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 417 11th Street, West Point, VA 23181
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the West Point Fire and Rescue Squad, Box X, West Point, VA 23181.

To the Lipscomb Family,
It was my pleasure to care for your loved one. I'll send an extra prayer for him this year as we celebrate our shared birthday. I'm deeply sorry for your loss, but I pray you find comfort in your family memories and knowing he is now at peace with his father.

My sympathy goes out to the Lipscomb family in the passing of their father, grandfather, etc. Gordon and Wendy, when you've done all you can, just be happy in knowing he's gone on to a better place, free from all aches and pain.
