My sweet Jacque. How can I ever express the feelings I have when I think of you and how close we were? I will always thank God for your friendship and sisterly love you gave to me. What a comfort you always were to me. My sweet Jacque, I thank you for being my steadfast friend, my Matron of Honor at my wedding and allowing me to be your Matron of Honor when you married Brandon. Your marriage was so special and the closeness that you and Brandon had was so endearing. I will miss the opportunity of growing old with you. We always said we would be sitting on a deck somewhere with our broad brimmed hats sipping wine and watching the sun set. Maybe we can do this in heaven. I will never forget you and will always love you. May you rest in peace sweet girl You suffer no more. God Bless you richly. I love you, Barb

When I learned that Jacque had left us, I realized that a part of me had gone with her. She was an inspiration to anyone she ever came in contact with. I first met Jacque a number of years ago, and that friendship built through the battles we both waged. The times we shared in fellowship and support at Relay for Life were prescious, as was the many times we shared outside of work, such as her coming to help me move and making sure I had a bed to sleep in when the rest of the house was a war zone. Jacque, I will miss you my friend terribly, but will never forget and never stop the fight. I look forward to the day we can enjoy each other's company again. Until then, know that I love you my friend!!

I am truly at a loss for words. Jacque was my neighbor for many years at Magruder Heights. I absolutely loved talking to her, and we had so much in common. When she moved, it was totally different here, and I truly missed our talks. She was such a wonderful person. My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. She will never be forgotten.

Jacque was truly an inspiration. I have such fond memories of her back when the Careplex was first built. When I took my daughter over her house on holloween. And when we fellowship together at Relay for Life. She will be missed but not forgotten. And Jacque we wont give up the fight. Love you.

I had the pleasure of being introduce to Jaque a few years ago. I dont think she knew how inspiring of a women she was to me. She shared her time and life experiences with me. Her words to me at a time in my life when even I didn't know how to get threw will resonate in my heart forever. The world has lost a beautiful spirit. However, she leaves us with the comfort that she has left us to now be an angel in god's heaven smiling down on us all.. Courtney, Amy, Adam, and Brandon my deepest condolences.

Jacque was a shining light, her contagious smile and heartfelt laughter still warms my heart. She will always hold a special place in my heart; we shared many mornings over coffee and conversation in her office and many afternoons riding around Port Warwick on the security golf cart. Jacque was an amazing person and I miss her every day. Brandon, you made her so happy; she radiated joy when talking about you. Cortney, Ami, and Adam, I have never met you but the way you mother spoke of you, I feel as if I have. She was so extremely proud of all of you! My thoughts are you all during this difficult time. She will truely be missed! Jacque, I love you and I hope Heaven has a golf cart!!!

I so enjoyed getting to know Jacque over the last few years; her enthusiasm and love of life was evident in everything she did. The joy Jacque brought to Brandon was unmatched; she's forever left her mark in his life and he's better for having known her and loved her. You are not alone Brandon - you have the love & support of those around you. You will be missed by so many Jacque, rest in peace.

I am saddened to hear of Jacque's passing. She had a heart of gold. Her smile radiated through the halls of Sentara. She was truly a gift to my Mom, as a homebound person. Jacque would come to the house and cut Mom's hair for her, never charging any extra for a "housecall". A blessing to many, she will be deeply missed.

I am quite saddened at the loss of Jacque... I knew Jacque as a high school friend - one who could always lighten a room with laughter, and yes, quite a character! There should be more spirited people in this world like Jacque. I always looked forward to seeing her at class reunions and walking down memory lane, recapturing a bit of our youthfulness. No doubt, she will entertain the angels.....and will be missed here on earth.

I am devastated to learn of this loss in our NNHS Family and the Stuart Gardens Gang. So many memories. I didn't know her as a Mom or a Mimi, nor the Sentara Jacque; but as a fabulous, funny childhood friend and school mate who never failed to elicit a laugh. What a character. Dorothy Crane's words, "I like my ham sliced a little thinner please!" Oh, the stories that can be told. Anshal's "medicine" cabinet; Chicken Delight deliveries; Peter, Paul & Mary; Willis and the The Blue Light; curfews and the Cadillac. When we have gotten together at our reunions, it was if no time had passed; she was always ever the same. Claudia, Fran, Jacque L., Sharon, Dru, Sherry, ... our "Lighthouse shines elsewhere ... what's to be done? August 28, 2011 will be a reunion in your honor Jacque; this one's for you. My heart is broken with the loss of your Mother and Mimi. She was a unique woman who loved her family with great passion. I will miss her greatly as she was a light in the darkness. She always had my love as do you all.

I graduated from Newport News High School with Jacque many years ago. I have regretfully not seen her since that time, but I have fond memories of her in school. She once told me a childhood story about watching Peter Pan, when I commented that Peter was one of my favorite characters. After watching it on TV, she went upstairs to try her flght skills out from her bedroom window. Her poor mother was washing the dishes, and looked out the kitchen window as Jacque plummeted into the bushes below, breaking her leg when she hit. I am sure the emergency room had a good laugh when setting her leg. I have grand children now and shared the story of Jacque just recently with my grandson. May she bring joy and laughter as she flies now with angel's wings! Love, Jennifer Perkins Akers
