I have known Jim over 40 years as a fellow professional Noncommissioned Officer and we worked together for a number of years at the Langley Officers' Club. We are deeply appreciated for his 28 years of dedicated military service to his country. Jim was the type of person who you always knew where you stood with him. A person of integrity and you could always count on him to have your back. I will deeeply miss him and know one day we will meet each other on that beautiful shore. May you rest in peace.

My Heart goes out to Dolores, Joe and their beautiful children on the loss of their Father and Grandfather. I did not know Mr. Sullivan personally but if Dolores is any indication of how he was then I know he was kind, gentle, funny, fun-loving, and very much loved by many many people. May he rest in Peace in God's Hands.

Jim: You have always been in our family. You and Shirley introduced John and I and from then on we were what I considered family. We have beem together for over 55 years and you were a great friend to John. Like we use to call you (The Bookends) and of course I always said you were his other wife. You will be missed and we will take care of Shirley for you until you are together again. We love you and miss you from now to forever.

To all the family,
I'm so sorry to hear of my cousin Jimmy's passing. The last time I saw him was at my brother John's house with his sister June. That was a few years ago. I wish we had kept in touch--the years do fly by! My sympathy to all who were close to him.

September 23, 2010

I am very grateful to have known Uncle Jimmy, having met him in person a few times (as an adult) and other times (unremembered as a child), but having heard many stories about him from my dad, Tom Sullivan. Uncle Jim's last comment to me about a week before he went to heaven was that he would like to get down to Texas to see his niece (Sherry Hubbard), nephews (John and Tom), and their children while spending time on a river-front ranch located by the small town of Junction. He said the same thing when I saw him in Idaho at my dad's funeral years ago. Time flies by so quick and our busy lives seem to make it impossible to travel to all the places we would like to go and see the people and family we should. That being said, I look forward to meeting Uncle Jimmy's two sons and his daughter. If not in Junction, then perhaps next year in North Carolina and then in Grand Rapids. My love and condolences to all Uncle Jimmy's family! Thomas John Sullivan, Jr.

I will sure miss talking with him on the phone, he was so fun to talk with. He always had the best jokes! When I would be lost in Grand Rapids or stuck in traffic I could always call his cell phone and he could give me directions. What a guy! Also how many guys could look so handsome in a big tall white hat like the one in the video. He might get you guys for putting that on line!

Dear Mike, Rick and Deb,
Since I was nine years old your family has been my family, and I love you all very much. I am very happy that he was able to make the trip to NC and we all got to spend your dads last week together. He had an excellent time and he and I, as always, had some great laughs. I think that is the one thing I will miss the most from Jim, his infectious laugh. To me,since I was little, Jim has always been bigger than life and I will miss him very, very much. Thanks for the memories buddy! I love you.

I'm sad that I had to wait until Dad's (brother Tom) funeral to meet Uncle Jimmy. We had such a good time sitting around the table visiting with Uncle Jimmy and Aunt June finding out all kinds of things about their growing up we'd never heard before. Then I enjoyed the time spent around your family table when I went up to Michigan for Jennifer's wedding. That was fun. I loved having the opportunity to meet more of his family. He was a unique individual with a very witty personality. He acted as if he'd known me for a long time making me feel a welcomed part of his family. I am so glad we called and talked to him a few weeks ago. He seemed so happy to be spending time in NC with his precious family. I'm sorry we won't be there for the service; know that we are thinking of you all during this time. I hope I get to meet the rest of you sometime, somewhere. May God bless you during this time of sorrow.
