Janet GUSTIN Obituary
A native of Portsmouth, she has been a resident of Newport News for 30 years.
Mrs. Gustin retired as an Administrative Assistant from the City of Newport News Public Schools after 20 years of service. She was also a member or First United Methodist Church Newport News.
Mrs. Gustin was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Henry Braxton Gustin.
She is survived by a daughter, Martha Dodson and her husband, Jerry, of Newport News; and a son, John Gustin of Lubbock, Texas.
The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at Peninsula Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Norfolk.

Dear Martha and Jerry,
I am very glad that we got to know your Mom at FUMC. She always seemed to be proud of you and your interest in the church. She instilled in you many values and lots of love that is so evident in all that you give and show to all that know you and to others less fortunate who do not know the love of family and God. It is sad to say goodbye to one so loved. May God give you comfort and peace at this time. Love, Jay and Cathy

Dear Martha and Jerry,
It is with heavy hearts that we extend our sincerest sympathy to you at the loss of your sweet mother/mother-in-law. May the MANY good memories of earlier, healthier times and events sustain you both as you grieve such a personal loss. Many hearts reach out to you; Mrs. Gustin's final sleep reminds us that she is with the Lord. Rest easy in knowing that she had wonderful "golden years" because of you and your love and caring.

It is with a heavy heart that we learn of your Mom's death. She was such a sweet person and always had a smile to share. She will be missed!
Our prayers go with you during this time.
May good memories sustain you. You were good 'caregivers' to her and I know she was grateful. Take care and know your friends are here for you.
