Jeffrey STEELE Obituary
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Steele; and brother, Scotty.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory a son, Brooks Steele of Maryland; mother, Fae Steele Howell; three sisters, Debra Prater, Deena Cross and her husband, Dennis, and Michelle Stevens and her husband, Eric; two brothers, Robert Steele and his wife, Pam, and Blair Steele and his wife, Lisa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, and friends.
When not hard at work he could be found at the James River Fishing Pier. He will be sadly missed. The family would like to extend their love and admiration to his caregivers, Paige and Adrian Whitley, for all that they have done for Jeffrey and his family.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 9, 2010, at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Whitley, 153 Fairview Road, Newport News, VA 23607, with the Rev. Paul McCulley officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Riverside Hospice, 12420 Warwick Blvd., #6E, Newport News, VA 23606.

i really wish i could have been there more toward the end. when i used to work at howmet i used to look froward to the end of my shift just so i could see you when i was leaving i thought it was awesome i was related to you since you were like a legend in there. you were always one of the first people to crack a joke or a comment at parties that just made the night memorable.I'm really gonna miss golfing even tho I'm no good and kept getting mad it was nice to be included when i was younger. me and Stephanie love you very much and we will see you again one day

Dear Uncle Jeff,
I may not of have been in the family long, but I still always have counted you as a Uncle to me. I'm glad we got to see you once last time before you passed. I'll never forget the good times we all had at the cook-outs, but just know I love you. I'm glad your some wheres safe and happy now.

Dear JB....hard to believe it has been 1 year since you have left our lives but you will forever be in all of our hearts..You meant so much to so many people that I don't think you realized just how loved and respected that you were. I miss you so much. I saw a red bird the other day and I had a conversation with him. He stayed in the back yard for 5 minutes while I talked. You always were a good listener and you remembered everything. We will have a wonderful celebration when we see each other again in heaven. Until then my dear brother I LOVE YOU

I have so many wonderful memories of us growing up. We were always laughing and enjoying each others company. Never a dull moment when we all got together. I was so saddened to hear the news. I haven't seen Jeff in years since I went to school with him and Blair when they lived in Riverside. I had the biggest crush on Jeff and he was always so kind to me and I will always remember him riding me on the handle bars of my bike around the neighborhood and we would go what I thought was a hundred miles an hour. Rest in peace my dear friend.

Jeff was truly a one of a kind character and had a heart as big as Texas! Paige and I have had so much fun and laughter with Jeff over the years. I recall his generosity and once he even hosted Rhiannon's 11th birthday party at his pool. What a hoot! I regret that geography prevents my attendance tomorrow to share in the wonderful memories of such a unique life. My deepest sympathies to his family and a special prayer to his mom & also to my dear friend Paige. I send all my love and a huge cooler full of mighty big fish! Rest in Peace dear friend....

Jeff was a unique individual who was full of wit and laughter! I got to know him riding the school bus to Newport News Intermediate (always a trip) and around the neighborhood. For sure a guy who didn't know a stranger and LOVED to joke on everyone (especially Paige)! Blessings of peace to all of his family and friends who were closest to him. Thank you Paige and Adrian for opening your home and hearts to him in all you did recently. He seemed very happy and at home there.

I lived at River Road next to Jeff. We had some really good times sitting outside with all of the neighbors. Jeff always made us laugh, and he was really sweet to my Mom, Joyce Coggin. He will be missed deeply by all who knew him. My prayers and thoughts go out to the entire family.

Jeff Steele, a cousin & a friend. He'll be missed by all that knew him. He's gone too soon but he'll never be forgotten. I'll always have good memories of us fishing or just having a good time.
