In the years I knew him John had a knack for reminding those around him how much life has to offer. That's a rare gift, and one he shared freely. I consider myself fortunate to have encountered John when I did, and will always remember him in the way I think he'd have wished, as a kind man with a bearded smile and a twinkle in his eye...

"i'll never forget John calling the bookstore and asking for Tennyson and finding out he was out, then saying "again, you are always running the store does'nt he ever work?" His dry sense of humor would keep me laughing even after hanging up the phone.

Lisa, I know you have such great memories to give you comfort. (Carlie Bertram)

I have wonderful memories of working with John Ballinger at the Bookpress, LTD. It was my first job out of college and I learned alot about books and life from John. He was wise and funny and caring. I am very sorry I lost touch with him over the years.
