John DUNN Obituary
He was a native of Johnson Co., N.C. and was a Peninsula resident for the past 54 years. J. T. retired from the Newport News Fire Department in 1990 with 31 years of service and spent over 10 years at Station #10, in the Hidenwood area of Newport News. He was a former member of the Chesapeake Bay CB Club and was fondly known as "Hog Man" to his friends.
Survivors Include his wife of 17 years, Annie Ruth Dunn; his son, Robert Wayne Dunn and his wife, Cindy of Gloucester; two stepsons, Jack Holland of Hampton, and Donnie Tyndall of Maryland; his sister, Doris Wood of Four Oaks, N.C.; sister-in-law, Hilda Dunn of Newport News; grandson, Travis Dunn; step grandsons, Scott and Mark Tyndall; three step great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 13, 2010, at Weymouth Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Clarence Hilling and the Rev. Bob Robbins at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2010, at the Weymouth Funeral Home Chapel with interment in Peninsula Memorial Park. Ruth, Donnie, and Family, you have our deepest sympathies at this time. Although we did not know Mr. Dunn, I am sure he was a wonderful person, husband, and father. Sorry to hear about the loss of your Father. I still remember the many dinners at your home when we were much younger. JT was always smiling and a good Father to you. His picture is just the way I remember him. During this time may the gentle touch of the Lord bring you strength and comfort.

Ruth, Donnie, and family,
So very sorry to hear of JT's passing. He was a great friend to both my dad and uncle (Freddie and Junior) for many years - both during their fire department days and in retirement. In fact, I bet him and my dad are already reminiscing about the good old days in the NNFD! You're in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

Know what it's like. Lost a stepfather of 20 years (unofficially longer) in 1998, after losing a dad in 1964, our senior year at NNHS. Hope you're doing well.
