Lois MURPHY Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Mrs. Lois J. "Molly" Murphy, 83, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 2, 2010, at her home.
Daughter of the late Ruby Carrie Hannah and Charles Emmett Williams Sr. of Avery, Ga., she spent much of her life in Hampton and Newport News.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Edris Chase and Patricia Williams; and two brothers, Charles and Bill Williams.
"Molly" is survived by her son, Eric C. Smith; her sister, Jackie Cameron of Augusta, Ga.; her brother, James Williams Sr. of Summerville, S.C.; three granddaughters and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:30 to 8 p.m., at Altmeyer Funeral Home, Denbigh Chapel. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8, at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

Molly taught me it was o.k. to stick up for yourself. She was such a strong woman and yet she loved you with her whole heart. Much of my youth was spent at her home and those years gave me many happy memories. Much love to everyone who will miss her, Michelle Hope Lamb
