Margaret MILLER Obituary

LANCASTER, PA. - Margaret "Peggy" Miller, of Lancaster, Pa., devoted wife, beloved mother and grandmother, and loyal friend, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010.
She was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dec. 6, 1939, to the late John and Phoebe (Reich Gains) Sadler. Peggy was married to John H. Miller, her best friend, whom she celebrated 38 years of marriage on Aug. 11.
Peggy is survived by her husband, John; her daughter, Caroline W. Swartz, and her husband, Paul B. Swartz, of Seaford, Va.; two grandsons, Kyle W. Swartz, a music education major at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., and Christopher P. Swartz, a music student at Jacksonville State University in Jacksonville, Ala.; and a cousin (who was always like a brother), Worthington E. Cockey, and his wife, Donna of Vero Beach, Fla.
Peggy grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she graduated from Hillsdale School, a private girl's school. She then attended Sullins College, a young women's junior college, in Bristol, Va. Peggy was a homemaker but worked earlier in her life as a floral designer at the Olde Mill House Shoppe and as an interior decorator at Best Brother Paints of Lancaster.
Peggy and her husband enjoyed collecting, showing, and looking at antique automobiles. She was an active member of the Susquehanna Valley Region Model "A" Restorers Club; BMW Car Club of America; Red Rose Antique Auto Club of Lancaster County, Pa.; Lanco MG Club; and the Antique Automobile Club of America Hershey Region.
Peggy loved animals all her life and left behind her "boys," Rouser and Roarie, two beautiful Shih Tzu which she kept in full coat. She happily groomed them daily. Peggy and Roarie, a certified therapy dog with the Delta Society, cheered up many residents of local nursing homes. Peggy was also a member of the American Shih Tzu Club.
Peggy was a member of the Hempfield United Methodist Church where she and John were married.
A memorial service to celebrate the life and resurrection of Peggy Miller will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2010, at Kearney A. Snyder Funeral Home. Visit with the family from 1 to 2 p.m. before the service. Private interment will be at the convenience of the family.
