Mary MORRIS Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Mary Etta Morris went home to be with the Lord on Jan. 8, 2011.
After a long illness, she took her place where there is no longer any pain and suffering. She was a faithful member of Union Baptist Church where she served as an usher. Mary will also be remembered for her tireless work with the development of Crispus Attucks place where she lived for more than 35 years.
Mary retired from Camp Perry after 35 years of service and she will be remembered as the little lady with the feisty, frank talking, no holds barred attitude. She had a heart of gold and would do anything for you but she did not take any junk.
Survivors include her son, Vincent A. Morris (Carol) of Largo, Md.; and two daughters, Lucille Lorraine Banks (Marvin) of Newport News, Va., and Shelly R. Morris of the home; two sisters, Ellen D. Bridgeforth of Newport News, Va., and Audrey Bowman of Croaker, Va.; four brothers, John O. Brown, Charles Vaden Jr. (Joan), and Alfred B. Vaden of Saint Albans, W.Va., and Elmore Piggott of Croaker, Va.; brother-in-law, Turner Clemons Jr.; two aunts, Marcell Flocker and Helen Zeigler of Williamsburg; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, 20 nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Viewing will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 14, at Union Baptist Church, Williamsburg. Homegoing services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15, at Union Baptist Church with Pastor Clarence R. Bolton officiating. Family will assemble by 12:15 p.m. at 414 Harriet Tubman Drive, Williamsburg, Va.
Interment will be on Tuesday, Jan. 18, 2011, at Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg at noon.
Arrangements by Ronald C. Perkins Funeral Home. View and post condolences on our online guestbook at dailypress.com/guestbooks.

My Dearest Beloved Aunt Mae Mae,

Words cannot begin to express how much we miss you. On my childrens birthdays this month one part of our celebration was missing, we thought about you and going to visit because you were always there. Mae you have been there since day one for me. I cannot remember a time in my life when I did not have you. No matter where I was in life you were there. You wiped my tears and taught me more than I realized. You taught me how to be the woman and mother I am. I am greatful for you. No matter what one thing I knew for sure I was never without someone in my corner because I had you. Thanks for tuching our lives and teaching me how to love unconditionally. More than an aunt, more than a friend, yes Mae you were an Angel filled with the spirit to serve others. You lived your life just as God would have you to. Rest in Peace

May May, you held my hand when I felt adrift; You wrapped me in your arms when I needed comfort and your home was always a warm and inviting haven to be able to stop to talk and play. I find myself saying all the time, I need to stop by May May's, but you are not there and I am left dumbstruck. I know in my heart that you are ok. I saw GOD wipe away every wrinkle and every pain and he left your face smiling with joy and delight. I am Happy thet your are with Mama Que and Mama and all your other loved ones for they too had been waiting alonside your bed when you called out to them on so many occaions.
I love you and I will miss your earthly presence but your spirit will forever be lifted up.
So long PROUD MARY!
Your niece, Diane

Aunt Mae-Mae's house, was always my first stop whenever I came to Williamsburg. I am going to miss not seeing her,and not seeing Aunt Helen and Ellen at her house anymore. I thank Aunt Mae Mae for taking the time, and showing her love for not only me, but for those who came across her path.

She suffered a long time and she is now resting with the Lord. May God bless you all and give you strength during this time and may you rejoice and not mourn for she is now in a better place.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;" Ecclesiastes 3:1-2. To the family, Mayetta will truly be missed and we must remember that she is with God now. My prayer is that God continues to keep her close, and keep the family in His arms as they go through this time of grieving as well.
