Meryl KING Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Meryl Marguerite King, 89, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009 at the Hidenwood.
Born in Alma, Neb., she had been a Peninsula resident since 1988. Meryl was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Yorktown.
Mrs. King was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Oliver G. King.
She is survived by her son, Michael King and his wife, Donna of Fayetteville, Ga.; two daughters, Donna J. Howell and her husband, Clarence of Yorktown, and Danna M. Flanary and her husband, Robert of Newport News; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
The family would also like to extend their heart-felt thanks to the staff at the Hidenwood for all their care and kindness.
All services will be private by the Rev. Franklin Hall.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mrs. King's memory to the Peninsula Rescue Mission, 3700 Huntington, Ave., P. O. Box 377, Newport News, VA 23607.
