Minnie GAMMON Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Minnie Elizabeth Crittendon Gammon, longtime resident of Newport News and native of Danville, Va., died peacefully on Wednesday, Nov. 3, 2010, at The Gardens of Warwick Forest.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put her family first. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William H. Gammon.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Gammon and his longtime companion, Patricia Stavolone, of Manchester, N.H., and Jerry Gammon and wife, Gail of Hampton. She is also survived by her sisters, Mary Hardy and Mamie Lindsay both of Danville; and brother, Garnett Crittendon of Newport News; plus grandchildren, Danielle Gammon, Debra Carroll and husband, Joel, Brian Gammon and wife, Rima, Greg Hayes and three great-grandchildren, Jesse, Dana and Sophie.
The family is very grateful for the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of the Piedmont Unit at The Gardens of Warwick Forest, who gave her so much care and love in her final year of life.
The family will receive friends at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News from 2 to 2:45 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, followed immediately by a graveside service starting at 3 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park.
Expressions of sympathy can be made in her memory to the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Virginia Peninsula, 11825 Rock Landing Drive, Suite-B, Chesapeake Building, NN, VA or Easter Seals of New Hampshire, 555 Auburn St, Manchester, NH 03103.
