Nancy HUGGARD Obituary

YORKTOWN - Nancy C. Huggard, 70, an area resident since 1974, died Monday, Dec. 28, 2009.
Mrs. Huggard was a member of Menchville Baptist Church; was active in the Kiwanis; was past president of the Newport News Women's Club; and retired from the Newport News School System after 10 years as a teacher at several area schools.
She is survived by her loving husband of 42 years, Robert Huggard; one son, Byron Huggard and his wife, Amy; a brother, Thomas Chapman and his wife, Beverly Sue; two grandchildren, Brandon Wimmer and Caitlyn Huggard; a niece and nephew, Emily and Joe Chapman; and a special friend that she loved like a daughter, Kristi Bristow.
The family will receive friends from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 3, 2010, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Jan. 4, 2010, at Menchville Baptist Church with Pastor Chris Gill, officiating. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial park.
Memorial contributions may be made to Menchville Baptist Church, 248 Menchville Rd., Newport News, VA 23602.
