Nelson ENSLEY Obituary

HAMPTON - Nelson Bruce Ensley, 87, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 2, 2009.
Born Nov. 13, 1922, in Newport News, Va., he was the son of the late Zella Sutton and Paul Ensley.
Nelson served his country during World War II in the U.S. Army, as a Sherman tank gunner with the 70th Tank Battalion, from D-Day at Normandy through Central Europe. He was awarded the Presidential Unit Citation and five Bronze Service Stars.
Nelson later attended New York University and became an auditor for the Naval Area Audit Service, Department of the Navy, and retired after 26 years of service. He was a member of the American Society of Military Comptrollers.
He is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters, Carol Ensley of Alexandria, Va., and Nora Hensley of Hampton, Va.
Inurnment, with full military honors, will be 1 p.m. Friday, April 16, 2010, in Arlington National Cemetery.
