Patricia ELKINS Obituary

WILLIAMSBURG - Patricia Ann Taylor Elkins, 72, was born in Knoxville, Tenn., on Sept. 30, 1937. She was born into eternal life on Sept. 14, 2010, at home in Williamsburg, Va.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William Kyle Taylor and Marie Wallen Taylor, both of Lafollette, Tenn.
Pat grew up in Caryville, Tenn., and graduated from the Tennessee Wesleyan College in 1955, and from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, in 1957. She was a member of Phi Mu Sorority at the University of Tennessee. She married Allen Elkins in March, 1958. Pat served in the Central Intelligence Agency from 1958 until her retirement in 1992 with more than 20 years of service in different parts of the world. She and Allen traveled on assignment to overseas locations on Okinawa, Frankfurt, Germany, Vientiane, Laos, the Dominican Republic, Rome, Italy, and Washington, D.C.
She was a member of Williamsburg United Methodist Church and was a lifelong Methodist.
Pat was an avid gourmet chef and enjoyed doing different needlepoint projects. She created many beautiful needlepoint works that now decorate her residence and the homes of her children and relatives.
She is survived by her husband, Allen Elkins; daughters, Ashley Zesinger of Philadelphia, Pa., and Allison Elkins of Sandy Springs, Ga.; son-in-law, Greg Zesinger; and granddaughters, Amy and Julie Zesinger.
The family will be receiving friends at Nelsen Funeral Home on Thursday, Sept. 16, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday, Sept. 17, at Williamsburg United Methodist Church at noon. A private burial will be held in Williamsburg Memorial Park with pallbearers Tom Hughes, Terry Ward, Gordon Elkins, Doug Elkins, Greg Zesinger, Norman Elkins and honorary pallbearers, George Owens and Art Choate.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Williamsburg United Methodist Church or the charity of your choice.

Allen, Bernard, Nick, Sam, Ben, C.C. and I send condolences to you, Ashley and Allison on your loss. Pat was a lovely lady and my thoughts and prayers are with you all in this sad time. A donation will be made in Pat's name to her Methodist Church.
