Ralph GARNETT Obituary

CHESAPEAKE - Ralph Douglas Garnett, 73, passed away Thursday, Sept. 2, 2010.
He was a native of Saint John, Canada, and the son of the late James and Mary Garnett. He is a U.S. Army Veteran and a member of St. Christopher's Episcopal Church where he was the Treasurer and served on the Vestry.
He is survived by his wife, Ada Rideout Garnett; a son, Don Garnett and wife, Susan; and two grandchildren, Richard and Madelyn Garnett.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at St. Christopher's Episcopal Church. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the Sturtevant Funeral Home, Bennetts Creek Chapel Monday from 3 to 5 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Christopher's Episcopal Church at 3300 Cedar Ln. Portsmouth, VA 23703 or to the American Cancer Society at 4416 Expressway Dr. Virginia Beach, VA 23452-1135.

I worked for Doug in inventory at DDNV for approx. 12 years. He was a very likeable guy, who also had a great sense of humor. I can"t recall any one that didn't enjoy his conversations. I KNOW he will be greatly missed by every one who shared his company, and especially to his wife whom he often lovingly referred to.
