It will have been a year this Monday. Not a day goes by I don't think of u. You always kept us laughing, I miss that soo much. I have a peace lily from ur memorial I talk to like its u. Its only bloomed twice, in the spring right when the fish startedn to bite, and this week. You have taught me that life is precious, and not guarnteed. You have taught me forgivness. I promise to look out for my favorite little cuz, Jerm, and every summer I will cast a line just for you uncle Rick.

It has been very hard to put my feelings into words.I have watched Ricky go through the same pain I have experienced the last couple of years with the loss of my sister to cancer. Ricky reminds me of of my sister in someways- they both had genle souls and a wonderful love of nature. I grew very fond of Ricky and his son Jeramie over the years. I saw the close bond between Ricky and Jeramie.
HAVE PEACE,RICKY - We will all watch over Jeramie. Ricky will be forever in my heart.

I had the privilege of meeting Ricky and the entire family thru Brenda and have been "family" ever since. Ricky had a great sense of humor,a smile that could light any room! To say it best "If you knew Ricky, you knew what kind of heart he had,if you knew Ricky you knew that you always had a friend." If I have half the courage Ricky had thru his illness to get thru this next year I know that I will be Ok! We will be OK! I pray everyday that GOD will comfort us and give us the knowing that there will be brighter tomorrows! R.I.P. Ricky my brother/friend until we meet again, catch all the big fish for me! Love your other sister-Krazy Mary

Ricky has been a part of my life since I was a teenager, first as a friend then as my brother in law. He brought a joy of life to me and all that knew him which was refreshing and rare in these times. His battle with cancer was fought like a warrior with heart and soul that never gave up. Before his passing he asked me to “keep an eye out for Jeramie” I told him don’t worry Jeramie is smarter and not as rotten as we where at that age, but Ricky you know I will be there for him. He laughed and said your right we where rotten. Though I will miss him always, all I can do is look forward to our next fishing trip together that will span through eternity.

I had the privilege of meeting Ricky and the whole family thru Brenda and instantly felt like family. Ricky had a great sense of humor and a smile that could light the room. "To know Ricky you knew what a kind heart he had. To know Ricky you knew that you always had a friend." I pray everyday that God will help the family get thru today and know that there will be brighter tomorrows. I know that one day we will get to see Ricky again but until then R.I.P Ricky and I hope that you catch all the big fish! we love you!

I had the pleasure of knowing Ricky for many years, his zest for life always came though in that cute little smile of his. Ricky showed such great courage, fight and grace any person could at the time he was struggling for his life. He is with the Lord, where it is safe, no more pain. My heart, prayers and love goes to his son, sisters, brother and family. May the Lord be with all of you.

As Rickys little sister Teresa,I have learnt so much from Ricky in the last year of his life. I can only hope if I am ever faced with such diversity that I will have half the courage and preserverance that Ricky did. We love him and will miss him. He was one of the best brothers a girl could ever have.
May God comfort our family and help us to comfort Jeramie. May you rest comfortably in peace dear brother,
Green grass and high tides forever
Castles of stone, soul and glory
Lost faces say we adore you
As kings and queens bow and play for you
I WILL MISS YOU BUT WE WILL MEET AGAIN.
I LOVE YOU
The profound loss our family has experienced is comforted by the outpouring of love, support and prayers by friends of Ricky and Jeramie and our extended family. MAY GOD BLESS ALL OF YOU

Jeramie,
I was so sorry to hear about your Dad. I didn't even know when I saw you the other night because no one called me. I really liked him a lot. He fought a great fight through all of this. My thoughts and prayers are with you. If you need anything, please call and remember, the fishing pier is always open to you!

My brother, Ricky, will be greatly missed by us all. He was a good, kind person. He fought his cancer for a year and went through three major surgeries to try and beat it. He always had a positive attitude. He never gave up. He amazed me at the way he handled it. Only time will heal our sorrow but we will see him again in heaven.
Your Sister,
Brenda
At Ricky's funeral service his son, Jeramie stood and spoke about his father. This is what he said:
WE ARE HERE TODAY TO SUPPORT EACH OTHER... BECAUSE MY FATHERS LIFE WAS TAKEN BY A DISEASE THAT TAKES SO MUCH TIME AND SUFFERING TO OVERCOME. TEENAGERS MY AGE AND YOUNGER CHILDERN ARE GIVEN THIS DEVASTATING NEWS THAT CANCER IS GOING TO SHORTEN YOUR TIME WITH A LOVED ONE. MY FATHER WAS MORE THAN JUST MY DAD. HE WAS MY BEST FRIEND. THE BEST FISHING PARTNER I WILL EVER HAVE AND THE STRONGEST FIGHTER I HAVE EVER SEEN. I HARDLY EVER SPENT TIME WITH TEENAGERS MY AGE. I HAD SO MUCH FUN WITH MY DAD I DIDN'T WANT TO. MY DAD ENJOYED SPENDING TIME WITH ME MORE THAN ANYTHING ELSE AND FOR THE REST OF MY LIFE I WILL WISH I COULD HAVE HAD MORE TIME WITH HIM. IN A WAY I AM A LITTLE RELIEVED NOW THAT HE CAN REST PAINLESSLY. ALL WE CAN DO IS CHERISH THE GOOD TIME WE DID HAVE WITH HIM. I LOVE YOU DAD. REST IN PEACE.

Brenda, Ronnie, Teresa, & Jeramie:
My heartfelt sympathies are with you and the rest of the family. We're all going to miss Ricky so much. He was such a warm, kind hearted person. He was fun loving & fun to be around. I don't think there is one of us he hadn't had in stitches on more than one occasion! Ricky was a loving, dedicated parent and, Jeramie that will be a treasure of memories you'll have forever. When I think of Ricky I'm going to see that big smile that was usually followed by that giggly little laugh.
You know that I'm here for y'all.

We were saddened to here of rick's untimely demise. He will be missed by all that knew him. The Bible, in the book of John Chapter 11, verses 25 and 26 says "Jesus then said, 'I am the one who raises the dead to life! Everyone who has faith in me will live, even if they die. And everyone who lives because of faith in me will never really die. " May the Lord bring His comfort during this time of grief. We send our love. Thelma & Leonard Larson, (newport news)
