Jonathan and Brandon,
I became a friend of Roy's in 2003 and I am sorry to hear that he passed. I saw it in the newspaper just today and I was shocked. Please send the family my condolences. He was a nice man and a good friend to me.

Roy was a great guy who I enjoyed working with at J. J McMullen and who sold me his house on Patriot Crescent at a great price. As Ham Williams put it in his comments he was very kind and compassionate and was a pleasure to be around. My thoughts are with his family at this sad time.

Dear Brandon and Jonathan,

I came to know your Dad in about 1979 when we were working for John J. McMullen Associates at Rouse Tower. I don't think I ever met a kinder or more compassionate man. He spoke with pride of his sons and their accomplishments ... and rightfully so. I was honored to have Roy as a friend and a a person who added fun to work. May God continue to bless.
With my prayers,

A few years ago I rented a room from Roy for a short time. I am very sorry to hear of his passing. I have kept in touch with him over the years, having the privilage of seeing him about 2 months ago. He was a very thoughtful, patient and kind person.

I had the pleasure of knowing Roy both on a peronal and on a professional level. Every tax time I would fuss at him and say Roy if your heart was as hard as your head he would laugh and say I was never meant to be rich. I know in my lifetime I never met a more giving and generous person he never saw anyone he wouldn't help if he could. He had a heart of gold and I know the dancing he loved will continue in heaven. He will greatly missed.

39 years ago in 1971 when we were newlyweds, my first husband and I rented the downstairs of a big house in Newport News from Roy. I remember your father and grandfather as a very kind man and landlord. I've thought of him several times through the years. I'm happy to see he has raised some fine sons and grandchildren that from reading the guest book gave him as much joy as you have given him.
May God give you strength during this sad time of your life.

Dear Jonathan & Brandon: I had not seen your father in many years. Your Dad and I were Cheerleaders for the NNSB & DD Co. Apprentice School back from '59-'61. I can remember great times with him way back then. So sorry for your lost.

Brandon,
The memories of your Dad are vivid in my mind as of the many times we all spent together in Newport News, Yorktown, Troutville, Roanoke, and yes especially at the beach at Kill Devil Hills. His love for his sons and grandchildren were very apparent in his many visits with all of us, even when he was not feeling well. May his memories of him comfort you and Jonathan at this sad time and your family prepares to honor his life with the Memorial Service that you have planned. Love, Gramma Sula and Mother-in-law)

Dearest Jonathan and Brandon,

My heart is filled with so much sorrow that your father has passed away. He was a very sweet man and loved you two boys so very much. I thought he would pull through and get better and was in shock when my mother (Aunt Evelyn) told me that he had passed away. My deepest sympathies are with you and may God bring you comfort in your time of such sorrow and pain.

Love,
Your cousin,
Norma

Dear Granddaddy Pace, You were the best Grandpa. We had so much fun at Water Country in July. The beach will not be the same next year. We will float on your favorite blue raft. Barrett is such a good little baby brother and we are glad you got to meet him in May. I love my angel bear from Christmas. We will always miss you, Love Noah, Harper and Barrett
