Junior R. BUNTING

HAMPTON - On Dec. 27, 2009, our angel, Jessica Louise came from above to get one more, Junior Ruben Bunting.
A member of Buckroe Baptist Church, he was an angel here on earth. Elvis Presley and the Washington Redskins were the biggest loves of his life. A native of Bear Grass, N.C., he moved to Buckroe Beach in the 1960's with his close friend, Louise Green, and helped raise her daughters, Rosie Maynor, Penny Ervin, Brenda Smith and Terri Rutherford; and her deceased sons, Jimmie Mantis and Jerry Moore. He loved and missed his sister, Minnie Gurganus and her husband, John of Bear Grass.
He spent his later years living with Brenda Smith and her family, Russell, Jimmy Jack and Scotty Smith. He was more than a best friend, father or grandfather, he was a true blessing to us. He was known as the Redskins man and was seen riding his bicycle all over Buckroe Beach or riding the HRT bus to Lincoln Towers.
We know he's in heaven because God called him home so that he could be with his angel, Jessica Louise Smith, on January 2, the date of her death in 1987.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 2, 2010, in the R. Hayden Smith Funeral Home chapel, and at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Biggs Funeral Home, Bear Grass, N.C.
