To The Thomas Family,
Sister Shirley Thomas was a "Loving, Cheerful Person". I always enjoyed talking to her whenever we would run into each other. I will never forgot the "Sundays" after church when I had dinner at "The Blue Fin". She was an excellent cook. Keep the "Faith".

Iris,Levi, Edwin, Val and Tracy,

My prayers and love are with you. Your mother was someone who could always leave the impressionable impressions on people she met. She did everything she could for her family and what she could for friends...All the time! A heart big as we could ever imagine, and a love that will linger on from heart to heart and breast to breast with those who knew and loved her. Although I haven't known her all my life, it feels like I have just because of who she was and how she was!
Even in times that seemed dismal, she still found the light in spite of. She thought about each and everyone of you everyday that went by. It didn't matter if you were the oldest or the youngest. The grand child or the great-grands. She loved each and everyone of you so much!
I'm sure you will all get together and talk about the times you all shared with each other and your friends as well, recalling everything funny, some things imbarrassing and will laugh at it all. Keep all her love with you. Remember all the things she tried hard to instill in you. Love one another and help each other. But most of all, keep God first! He WILL keep you, protect you, and will comfort you in times like these. Keep the faith and trust in Him always.
Though your mother is absent from her earthly body, she will be ever present here with you in spirit.
She was a good person with a wonderful spirit!
Shirley, thanks for all you have taught me, showed me and done for me. I will miss you dearly. But for now, you go on and take your rest; you have done your very best. You loved hard and labored long. Rest on mother Shirley. I'm sure all of your loved ones and friends are waiting with open arms to welcome you to your place of rest.
God bless each and everyone of you. And may the Lord, our God, forever keep you in His care.
Love to you and your family always,

God be with you all!

Dear Thomas Family:

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Miss Shirley. I have nothing but fond memories from "back in the day" when she was the best pitcher and hitter in the parks and recreation softball league. She always said you are never too old to play and because of her words I am still playing in Newport News, and I now know what she meant.

May God bless you all.

To the family of the late Shirley Thomas,
Your mom will be truly missed. She was a wonderful person with a heart of gold. Never complaining even when her health started to fail. She was one of the first people to influence me in playing softball. She had such a great drive for it. Thank's Mrs Shirley for the memories, Im still playing but will think of you often.
We know you loved your Mom but God loved her best. Go on Mrs. Shirley and take your final rest.

I will always remember that Mama Shirley always looked out for everyone. When she went to a yard sale or Walmart, she would think about one of the kids and get something for them. I remember when Jamell was a baby, she bought him a pack of size 8 underwear he could not wear them at the time but I kept them and today he wears them. (LOL) I appreciate all that she has done for me and my kids and always worrying about us traveling up and down the highway. We will miss you!!!!!
