Theodore HOLMES Obituary

NEWPORT NEWS - Theodore T. Holmes departed this life on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2010, after a short illness.
He was born in Philadelphia, Pa., Oct. 21, 1930. As a young man, he moved to Newport News, Va., where he made his permanent home. He worked with CSX Railroad for 44 years and retired in 1996. He was a dedicated member of the United House of Prayer, Newport News, Va., and served faithfully many years as the church treasurer, under three pastors.
Theodore was preceded in death by his wife, Etelyn Holmes in 2008.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Holmes-Robinson; two sons, Nathaniel Marvin Holmes (Delores) of Newport News, Va., and Marlon Holmes of Washington, D.C.; one granddaughter, two grandsons and two great-grandchildren; one sister, Elizabeth Reed Indianapolis, Ind.; one brother, James Holmes (Barbara) of Fort Walton Beach, Fla.
Viewing will be held from 1 to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the funeral home. Service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2010, at the funeral home.

To Pam, Marvin, BaBa and the Holmes family: God do not make misstakes when He calls home one of his angles! You have our deepest sympathy on the passing of your dad. On behalf of my dad (Mr. Spencer) and my sisters (Helen, Yvonne & Barbara Jean), Jamaal, Kristina and myself, our prayers are with you and your family. It has been many of years since we have been in contact with you and your family, but we want you to know that you will always be in our hearts and we love you. Please feel free to call when every you feel the need to just talk and look back over the good old days we shared. Your dad and mom are now at peace and together. God always work things out for us! Continue to cherish the fond memories of your mom and dad and always keep them close to your hearts. Our prayers are also with Marlon. We pray that he is well.
