Van LISCUM Obituary

MIDLAND, TEXAS - Van William Liscum has passed away peacefully on Sept. 22, 2010, with family at his side, after a strong and courageous fight against multiple sclerosis and COPD.
Mr. Liscum was born on July 26, 1945, to LaDon and Ann Liscum and moved from Iowa to Midland, Texas, as a child, graduating from Midland High School, and later, Texas Tech University. He lived in Houston, Amarillo, and Hampton Roads, Virginia for a number of years and was retired from the Virginia Marine Products Board. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Midland.
Mr. Liscum is survived by his loving family, mother, Ann Roberts Liscum, brother, Donald P. Liscum, sister, Geraldine L. Howard, all of Midland, and sister, Rebecca L. Rosson of Van, Texas. He is also survived by his beloved children, Laura Camille Liscum of Yorktown, Va., and Casey William Liscum of Philadelphia, Pa., their mother, Phyllis Liscum of Yorktown, and by his grandson, Darby Rush Liscum also of Yorktown. Other survivors, who were so loving and caring, include cousins, nieces and nephews and their families.
Van was an avid and accomplished bass fisherman, and was a fan of baseball. As a child and young man he fished with his dad and brother on vacations to the family cabin in Canada, and he never forgot those happy times. He had a big heart and a keen sense of humor. He is missed by his family and friends, who are comforted in the knowledge that he has joined his father and grandparents.
Services will be held Saturday, Sept. 25, 2010, at Grace Lutheran Church, 3000 W Golf Course Rd. in Midland.
Contributions in his memory can be made to Home Hospice, 901 W. Missouri, Midland, TX 79701.

When the Liscums moved to Amarillo shortly after we did, they became our Amarillo "family". We shared many laughs and a few tears.

Our love, prayers and thoughts go out to all of you at this difficult time. May God comfort you and give you peace.

Our sincere condolences go out to the family of Van. He was a good person and know he will be missed.

My parents used to rent a home on Louisiana street in Midland, Tx. I was the former Pam Gordon and my parents were Evelyn and virgil Gordon. Van and his family were very sweet people and Van will be missed.

Our prayers are with you all at this time. We will treasure great memories of Van.

I knew Van for several years in Newport News, VA. I was fortunate enough to have met his daughter and son and Phyllis. I do feel for the whole family and all of you are in my prayers. I originally met Van in the Multiple Sclerosis group. We all had a good time fishing and visiting. He will be missed.
