Verna BRACKINS Obituary
She was born March 27, 1919, and was the widow of Jack Gwaltney Stallings, who passed away in 1981.
She is survived by her daughter, Ann and her husband, Ed Cutchins of Midlothian, Va.; her son, Jack Gwaltney Stallings Jr. of Virginia Beach; daughter Leslie and her husband, Gordon Christian of Ft. Mill, S.C.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
There will be a graveside service at 1:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 7, 2009, at Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery, 220 Kings Highway, Suffolk., with the Rev. Ileana Rosario officiating.

Dear Ann, Jack, and Leslie, so very sorry to hear of Verna"s passing. She was such a presence in my life growing up in Green Oaks, as all of you were. She was an original, lots of fun, a wonderful laugh, a great sense of humor. I'll never forget our night of playing to 10,000 pts. in rummy. She was always telling me to "chest your cards dearie". I have many wonderful memories of her and your Dad and growing up with you. God bless each of you and your families. Love to all, Sharon

I remember Mr. and Mrs. Stallings on Tyler Avenue. I have so many fond memories of them both. My thoughts and prayers are with you all!
