Virginia LONG Obituary

HAMPTON - Virginia P. Long, 80, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 20, 2010.
Born in Perth Amboy, N.J., she resided in Hampton for most of her life. She loved fishing from a pier or beach and could pick hard crabs with the best of them.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Edward and Cossie Pascall; her husband, Robert E. Long Sr.; and her sister, Mary LeCount.
She is survived by her son, Robert E. Long Jr. and his wife, Rosemary; her companion and friend, David Elmore; her granddaughter, Rachel Buckman and her husband, Kurt; great-granddaughter, Olivia Buckman and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Commonwealth Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice for the special care they gave to her.
The family will receive friends from noon to 1:30 p.m., Friday, April 23, at Weymouth Funeral Home. A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Park by the Rev. Larry Biermann.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Peninsula S.P.C.A., 523 J. Clyde Morris Blvd, Newport News, VA 23601.

I just found out about your Mom and just wanted to let you know that Kaye and I are thinking about you. You and Rosemary give us a call when ever you come down. The water is warming up and should be some surf sessions soon.
