How do you write a eulogy befitting of somebody like Gary, written words can only express an iota of what he meant to his family and friends, it simply cannot do him justice. A true altruistic renaissance man, a man as Mitch said, with generosity that knew no bounds, a man with character that would light up a room, a man who would go all in on a bad poker hand, and a man who passed away far too young.
You lived life Gary, always the bright spark in the room, it was an absolute pleasure knowing you all these years. You always left a great impression with anybody that met you, you are still a legend in Austria mate !

I will miss you Gary.

Sincerest condolences to his family

I am so very sorry to have heard of Gary's death... He and I flew together for quite a while doing traffic for Hampton Roads. He was quite a character , great sense of humor and quick whit. He made my job doing traffic fun and I know that his spirit soars like an Eagle above all of us that knew and loved him. Peace....'Sky Angel Karen' aka, Karen LIbbus, Gloucester Point, Va.

Hard to believe he is gone.

He would call me occasionally and rapidly discuss a multitude of unrelated subjects. I will miss those. One thing about him - he was always concerned and interested in others and their well-being. Very self-less.

My condolences to the family.

Gary was a good man and I am deeply saddened to hear this news. While my contact with Gary had been limited to class reunions since high school my memories of Gary are fond and many. He was funny, bright and charming with a quick wit and a kind heart. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family. My heart goes out to all of you.

We've known Gary for almost 15 years. A kind and gentle spirit that everyone liked. Gary was all about family - he cared deeply for those close to him. You had to love him!

We worked with him on the EvapoRite Board of Directors and dealt with the hard issues associated with a startup company. No matter the circumstance, he always had a positive outlook and he truly believed it would succeed. Then we let our hair down with Gary when he threw the best Christmas parties on the planet.

We'll miss his charming smile and warm heart. May God watch over you and keep you.

One of many enjoyable memories that both Gary and I share is when he would visit me at the Charles City County house. We would have a plan for the day that may include cutting down trees, splitting wood, repairing the house, auto, or boat parts (Gary was a great handyman). To end the day we would cook out on the grill making delicious steaks, chicken, and seafood. We always made enough to feed more than just the two of us. During this time we would watch our dogs play and sit back and reminisce through the night. Rest in Peace my good friend! My thoughts and prayers go out the family.

There are times in one's life, when you are blessed by a "Special Soul" who comes into your life....I am one of MANY, who experienced that with Gary! He came into my life when I moved to Hampton in 1974....I knew no one, but was lucky to encounter The Three Amigos: tall & quiet Karl, funny & quiet Mark, HILARIOUS & not-quiet-at-all Gary. Our ranks grew, Shannon, Jeff, Jim, Mike, and the constant denominator was Gary. I would have to characterize Gary as "The Lovable Rascall", as he was always the center of having us guys be together, enjoying loads of laughs, and his main concern was always making sure that everyone around him was enjoying life to the fullest. I loved Gary like a brother, and know my life is less bright without him being in it. Rest in Peace my Friend. My thoughts & payers are with Gary's family and friends.

January 16, 2011

Lois,

Our prayers are with you during this terrible time of grief. We were not privileged to know Gary but we know that, with you as his mother, he was an incredible, talented man and that the world is a much sadder, lesser place without him. May the Lord hold you close and wrap you in His comfort.
