Jimmie STAMPER Obituary

HAMPTON - Jimmie Stamper, 75, a Hampton resident for 57 years died Sunday, Oct. 23, 2011.
Jimmie was a machinist in M53 for 40 years at Newport News Shipbuilding & Dry Dock Company and retired as a Master Shipbuilder in 2000. He was a member of Liberty Baptist Church and the James Morris adult couples Bible class, and was a Mason.
Survivors include his loving wife of 54 years, Jacquelyn "Jacque" H. Stamper; four children, Janeal F. Stamper of Roanoke, Jennifer E. Jennings and her husband, John of Suffolk, James F. Stamper of Gloucester, and Jayston E. Stamper and his wife, Jessica of Smithfield; two sisters, Maxine Matthews of Roanoke, and Carol McCarthy of Montrose, W.Va.; two brothers, Birley Stamper of Merryville, Tenn., and David Stamper of Ohio; four grandchildren, Joel Jennings, Jesse Jennings, Abigayle Stamper, and Nathan Stamper; and one great-grandson, Eli Jennings.
A funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2011, at W. J. Smith & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Franklin Howlett officiating. The family will receive friends until 8 p.m., after the service. Burial will be private.

Prayers to the Stamper family, worked with Jim for many years at machine shop, he was always a perfect gentlemen, and eager to teach what he knew! I am sure the angels have led him to heaven.

I am so sorry to hear about Mr. Stamper. I have great memories of him with his sense of humor. When he laughed, his whole face laughed. He loved his family so much and always made me feel like family when I was there. He will really be missed.
