Hugh Rutledge Obituary

Charleston, South Carolina - Lt. Col. Hugh Middleton Rutledge USA (Ret), 98, of Charleston, SC, husband of Elizabeth Norman Rutledge, died Monday, January 21, 2013. A memorial service will be held Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the J. HENRY STUHR INC., WEST ASHLEY CHAPEL, 3360 Glenn McConnell Parkway, Charleston, SC at 2 p.m. with visitation one hour prior to service. Interment at a later date in Arlington National Cemetery. Hugh was born January 23, 1914 in Sumter, SC, son of the late Thomas Pinckney Rutledge and the late Ethel Gary Parrott. He was a graduate of the Presbyterian College. Hugh was a Veteran of WW II and Korea serving in the Army, where he retired as a Lt. Colonel. He was also a member of the American Legion, VFW, Fort Eustis Officers Club, Retired Military Police Officers Association, and the Kiwanis International.He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Norman Rutledge of Charleston, SC; two daughters, Diane Rutledge of Charleston, SC, and Rosamond Rutledge-Burns of Harpers Ferry, WV; a son, Thomas Rutledge of Charleston, SC; a grandson, Robert McGlaun (Dawn) of Charleston, SC; and two granddaughters, Meredith Middleton Rutledge, and Amelia Kennen Rutledge both of Charleston, SC.Memorials may be made to DAV Memorial Program, P.O.
