Bobbie Canady Obituary

DANDY - Bobbie Whitehurst Moore Canady went to be with the Lord on Friday, Nov. 16, 2007.
Bobbie was educated in the Newport News School System and graduated with the Newport News High School Class of 1957. She earned an Associate Degree from Thomas Nelson Community College in 1983. She worked in Personnel at Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, for 20 years before transferring to Coastal Systems Station in Panama City, Fla. in 1995. She retired in 1998 as a Program Analyst and returned to Dandy, and her home on the York River.
Bobbie fought a courageous battle with breast cancer for three years while being an inspiration for others. She will always be remembered for her ability to help others in need.
Bobbie was preceded in death by her loving daughter, Penny Moore; father Walter Lawrence Whitehurst; and great-granddaughter Krista Moore.
She is survived by her husband, William Earl "Candyman" Canady; children, Josh Moore and his wife, Charlene, of Mathews, Creig Moore and his wife, Lorie, of Chesapeake, Michelle Russell of Yorktown; and a step-son, Keith Canady of Knoxville, Tenn. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Chris, Diane, Kylee, and Kellum Moore, Dusty and Joshua Moore, Cody Stamper and Kaylee Russell, Ryan and Spencer Canady; her mother, Inez Whitehurst Hurst of Carrolton; a sister, Carolyn Hughes of Charleston, S.C.; and a brother, Lawrence Whitehurst of Corpus Christi, Texas.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 20, in the chapel of Amory Funeral Home, Grafton with the Rev. Roger Collier officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 19, in the funeral home.
