Agnes Marie Hyde

Agnes Marie "Heidi" Hyde, 69, of Charlottesville, died of cancer on Wednesday, November 18, 2009, at home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in New York City on August 27, 1940, the daughter of John Hyde and Marie Hyde.

She was an independent Wills and Trust attorney in Charlottesville for 20 years. She received both her undergraduate and law degree from the University of Virginia. She was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Waring Best; her mother, Marie Haiss Hyde; her daughters, Christine Page and Christine's husband, Frederick, of Keswick, and Jacqueline McCabe. Her stepchildren are Alice Dugan and Alice's husband, David, and Lawrence Best and his wife, Mona, all of Durham, North Carolina. There are two grandchildren, Dane and Addison Dugan; and four sisters and brothers, John Hyde and his wife, Rosemary, of Pasadena, California, Jeanne and John Chacko of Suffolk, Virginia, Laura and Paul Pascale of Avon, Connecticut, and Kevin and Jackie Hyde of Ashburn, Virginia. Among her many friends, special mention is due to Alice MacInnis and family.

A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Monday, November 23, 2009, at Grace Episcopal Church, Route 231 in Cismont, with the Reverend Julie Norton officiating.

A graveside service will will be held 3 p.m. Saturday, November 21, 2009, at Monticello Memory Gardens.
