Amanda Hochstetler Yoder was born May 25, 1910, in Nappanee, Indiana, and departed this life on January 7, 2010, at the ripe old age of 99 years, seven months, and 13 days. She accepted Christ in her youth and remained faithful to the Lord until He called her home.

On January 23, 1936, she married J. Elmer Yoder, who died on January 12, 1990. God blessed them with nine children. Treva (deceased), was married to Wilmer Zook, who survives and lives in Greenwood, Delaware. Her eight surviving children and their spouses are Marie and David T. Yoder of Stanardsville, Virginia, Leora and Mervin Overholt of Russellville, Kentucky, Owen and Erma Yoder of Pratts, Virginia, Elmina Yoder of Pratts, Virginia, Roy and Mary Yoder of Harrisonburg, Virginia, Viola Yoder of Pratts, Virginia, Omar and Esther Yoder of New Holland, Pennsylvania, and Eldon and Paula Yoder of Pratts, Virginia. She greatly enjoyed her 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Jacob and Mattie Hochstetler; and all her siblings: Levi, Henry, Eli, Lydia Ann, Moses, Mahlon, and Emma as well her husband, oldest daughter Treva, two grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

The last 15 years she lived with Owen and Erma Yoder who faithfully cared for her in their home. She enjoyed seeing the activity at Yoder's Country Market, and working there in her son's family business when health permitted. Her many friends fondly called her Grandma.

She was a member of the Oak Grove Mennonite Church near Aroda, Virginia, where the funeral will be held 2:30 p.m. Sunday, January 10, 2010.

Family visitation including viewing is from 2 until 4 p.m. and from 6 until 8 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2010, at the Oak Grove Mennonite Church.
