Annie Southall

Annie Virginia Reese "Snookie" Southall, 91, of Louisa, went to Heaven peacefully on Tuesday, January 4, 2011, at a local hospital.

A loving mother, she was "Gramma Snookie" to all and touched the lives of those who knew her. A longtime member of Bybee's Road Baptist Church, she was an example of Christ's love and actively looked for ways to meet the needs of others.

She was born in Staunton, Virginia, on November 25, 1919, to the late Annie Trainham Reese and Benjamin Franklin Reese. Annie was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Kenneth George Southall; sisters, Bessie Hooper, Dorothy Giannini, Thelma Branham, Louise Freeman, and Vera Reese; and brothers, Frank Reese, Roy Reese, and Marvin "Buck" Reese.

She is survived by her children, David Southall and his wife, Carolyn, Judy Ryalls and her husband, A.C., and Bruce Southall and his wife, Carolyn; grandchildren, Aileen Wills and her husband, Todd, Kim Mayo and her husband, Dwayne, Terri Ryalls, Sarah Fleenor and her husband, Josh, Lauren Ryalls, and Brenda Bingler Carter; and great-grandchildren, Cameron Reese Mayo, Samantha Carol Wills, and William Edward Fleenor; and many nieces and nephews are left to cherish her memory.

The family will receive friends from 6:30 until 8 p.m. Thursday, January 6, 2011, at Sheridan Funeral Home in Kents Store.

Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, January 7, 2011, at Bybee's Road Baptist Church, with Pastor Charles Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bybee's Road Baptist Church, 4989 Bybees Church Rd., Troy, VA 22974 or the Fluvanna County Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 96, Palmyra, VA 22963.

Sheridan Funeral Home, Kents Store, is in charge of arrangements.
