Barb Ward's passing shocked me and saddened me. I am so sorry that I did not contact her in the last few years. She was my mentor and my "work mother". She loved her family first and her colleagues second. I met her my first day in the recovery room and I knew I would always have a gardian angel. I hope her final days were peaceful and painless. She will live on in the hearts of those young (and now old) nurses that she mentored and protected. I hope her family finds comfort knowing that we loved your dear wife and mother

To the family of Barb Ward. She was my senior clinician in the Recovery Room at UVa. I considered her my mentor and she was always willing to give of her time and clinical knowledge helping new nurses. She will be truly missed.

I worked with Barb for many years on the 5th floor at UVA Hospital. It was always a pleasure to work with Barb as she was a great RN, dedicated to her patients and a wonderful advocate for them. Her experience will be missed by UVA nursing and the patients she cared for.
