Betty Hossley Williams

Betty Hossley Faulconer Williams, 85, of Orange, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2009, at the University of Virginia Medical Center, after an extended illness.

Born in Roadhiss, North Carolina, she was daughter of the late Linwood B. and Mary H. Faulconer of Unionville, and the wife of the late Paul A. Williams II.

In addition, she was predeceased by two sisters, Louise F. Blades and Lillian F. Sanford; and one brother, Linwood B. Faulconer Jr.

She is survived by her son, Paul A. Williams III and his wife, Janine, and their three children, Caroline E., Paul A. IV, and Philip A. Williams, of Orange. She leaves one brother, James H. Faulconer and his wife, Sara Lee, of Strasburg; one sister, Marylin F. Darnell of Orange; one sister-in-law, Patricia C. Faulconer of Smithfield, North Carolina; one brother-in-law, Robert L. Williams and his wife, Judy, of Huntington, West Virginia; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Betty was a lifetime member of Rhoadesville Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Madison College, past president of Virginia Home Economists in Business, dietician and part-time instructor at the University of Delaware and a home economist with Westinghouse and the Appalachian Power Company. She was also the dietician for many years at Woodberry Forest School.

Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, January 2, 2009, at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, with the Reverend Nancy Stanton McDaniel officiating.

A reception will follow at the church.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial contributions be made to the Linwood B. and Mary Hossley Faulconer Scholarship Fund at Rhoadesville Baptist Church, 26042 Lafayette Drive, Rhoadesville, VA 22542.
