She was born on August 1, 1937, in Quinwood, West Virginia, the daughter of the late Wally and June Rigsby Dorsey.

She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Kyle Crickenberger.

Betty was a lifelong member of Piedmont Christian Church. She enjoyed gospel music, putting puzzles together and cooking. Her family was what she was most proud of and she expressed her love through cooking. During hunting season, a hearty breakfast would be ready by 4 a.m. every morning for all hunters who came by.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Curtis W. Crickenberger; two sons, Ricky Crickenberger and his wife, Kim, and Blain Crickenberger and his wife, Karen, all of Barboursville; three grandchildren, Dakota Crickenberger, Austin Dickerson and Leslie Carter; two great-grandchildren, Addison Norris and Annabelle Norris; two sisters, Billy Howell and her husband, Wendell, and Judy Howell and her husband, Gwen, all of Charlottesville; two brothers, Joe Dorsey and his wife, Pauline, of Stony Point and Bobby Dorsey and his wife, Valerie, of Hines, West Virginia; a very special friend, Russell Miller; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, October 6, 2010, at the Hill and Wood Funeral Home.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, October 7, 2010, at the Hill and Wood Chapel with Pastor Kenney Barrow officiating. Interment will follow at Monticello Memory Gardens.

Memorial contributions may be made to either the Charlottesville/Albemarle Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 160, Charlottesville, VA 22902 or the Stony Point Volunteer Fire Company, 3827 Stony Point Road, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
