Beverly Cibbarelli Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Apr. 18 to Apr. 19, 2010.
Beverly Bell Cibbarelli

Beverly Bell Cibbarelli died on Friday, April 16, 2010, in Charlottesville, Virginia, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

She was born on June 24, 1932, in Lockport, New York, and the daughter of the late William H. and Ruth Bell.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Dr. Vincent C. Cibbarelli of Keswick; two daughters, Ann Dale Cherry of Richmond, and Caren E. Sowa of Duxbury, Massachusetts; five grandchildren; and her son-in-law, Fred Sowa.

She also leaves a brother, Charles Bell and his wife, Carol, of St. Simons Island, Georgia; a sister, Dana Bell Castle of Williamsburg, Virginia; and several nieces and nephews.

Bev graduated from Lockport High School, attended Dennison University and was a graduate of Wheelock College in Boston. She taught at the elementary level in Darien, Connecticut, and was the Director of The Orange Community Nursery School in Orange, Connecticut.

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and Glenmore Country Club. Her passion was her service as a volunteer at the Outpatient Care Center at Martha Jefferson Hospital and at Christ Church. Bev was active in her Book and Bridge Clubs and had loved her Nine-Holer group. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church, 2 p.m. Tuesday, April 20, 2010.

In lieu of flowers, the family urges that contributions be made in her name to the Martha Jefferson Hospital Foundation, 459 Locust Avenue, Charlottesville, VA 22902.

The family would like to thank Dr. Robert Prichard and his staff at the infusion center of Martha Jefferson Hospital and the wonderful nurses of the 7th floor of the hospital for their loving care.

Bev "fought the good fight and kept the faith".
