Bruce W. Collins Sr.

Bruce Wayne Collins Sr., 68, of Charlottesville, passed away at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at Martha Jefferson Hospital.

Wayne was born in Charlottesville on April 6, 1942, to the late Bruce and Doris Collins.

He is survived by one son, Bruce Wayne Collins Jr.; two daughters, Judy Mae Woods and Kimberly Jo Leavell-McGirt; two sisters, Delores Harris and Evelyn Williams; a very special brother-in-law, Arlie Williams; a granddaughter, Michelle Mawyer; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He left behind other special friends; to mention a few, Crystal Collins, Larry Peragouy, Tom Moon and the Harlow family.

He was very special to everyone and will be missed by many.

The family will be receiving friends from 12 until 1 p.m. Saturday, October 30, 2010. A funeral service will follow at 1 p.m. in the Hill and Wood Funeral Home chapel with the Reverend Sidney Craig officiating.

All of us at Midway Manor Apartments are sorry for the loss of such a great man. Wayne was such a good friend, neighbor and inspiration to so many. He will be greatly missed and remembered by us all. We have great joy in knowing he was at peace and no longer suffers. May the family be at peace with their loss and find comfort in knowing he is happy, healthy, safe and in a better place.
