Carl Jefferson Obituary
Carl Osborne Jefferson Sr. of Charlottesville, Virginia, departed this life on Monday, October 25, 2010, at the Martha Jefferson Hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia.
He was born on May 7, 1925, in Charlottesville, to the late Emmett and Clara Seay Jefferson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, James and Willie Jefferson; a sister, Emma Porter; and a grandson, Chandell White.
Mr. Jefferson retired from the United Postal Services and served in the United States Marine Corp.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Jefferson; a son, Carl O. Jefferson Jr. of Charlottesville; two daughters, Carolyn Miller of Temple Hills, Maryland, and Joyce Merritt of Charlottesville, Virginia; a sister, Frances J. Jefferies and her husband, Carlton, of Charlottesville; three grandchildren, Rhonda Brooks of Waldorf, Maryland, Patria Bursey of Washington, D.C., and Lorenzo Miller of Washington, D.C.; six great- grandchildren; beloved nieces, nephews, cousins and two special friends, James and Gertrude Carter of Charlottesville and a host of other friends.
Funeral services will be held 12 p.m. Monday, November 1, 2010, at Mount Zion Baptist Church with Dr. Alvin Edwards officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
