Christine Chadwick Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from Jan. 31 to Feb. 1, 2012.
Christine "Chrissy" Chadwick (Giusio) Chrissy Chadwick, 41, passed away on Sunday, January 29, 2012, at her home in Charlottesville, Virginia, after courageously battling her breast cancer for two years. She died in peace and comfort, held in the arms of her loving husband, Larry M. "Chad" Chadwick, and surrounded by her family.

Chrissy was born on April 19, 1970, in New York City, where she attended high school at The Brearley School for Girls. She received a Bachelor of Science from Tulane University and a Masters of Physical Therapy from Hahnemann University, from which she graduated with academic distinction. Most recently, she practiced as a physical therapist at the ACAC in Charlottesville.

Chrissy was a devoted wife to her husband, and a loving mother to her children; William Thayer, age 14, Clayton Montgomery, age 11, and Kathryn Elizabeth, age 9. In addition to her husband and children, she is survived by her mother and stepfather, Lynn and Fletcher Duke; her father and stepmother, John and Dana Giusio; her brother, John Giusio; and her sister, Caroline Giusio. Her limitless energy, spunk and enthusiasm made her an exceptional mother, daughter, sister and friend. Chrissy dedicated her life to her family and helping others and was loved and admired by all who knew her. She was blessed with extraordinary organizational ability and leadership. Her extensive volunteering activities at the Woodbrook Elementary School included serving as the Co-President of the Parent-Teacher Organization and chairing the annual book fair. Chrissy was also a Fairview Swim and Tennis Club Board member, a team trainer for the Cavalier Wrestling Club and Pop Warner Steelers, a SOCA coach, and a certified USA Swimming Stroke and Turn Judge. In her "free time", she sang with the Sweet Adelines, Vienna Falls chapter (to which she drove three hours each way, reading and singing with her sheet music!) and the Confetti Quartet in Richmond. She also recently joined Sweet Adelines' Greater Richmond Chapter. Her family will be receiving friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012, at Teague Funeral Home, 2260 Ivy Road Charlottesville, VA 22903.

A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, February 2, 2012, at the Charlottesville First Assembly church, 1010 Rio Road East Charlottesville, VA 22901.

In lieu of flowers, her family requests that donations be made in her memory to the Marianne's Room program of Martha Jefferson Hospital, MJH Foundation, 500 Martha Jefferson Drive, Charlottesville, Virginia 22911. Friends may sign the guest register at teaguefuneralhome.com.

A beautiful spirit passed from us this week. Chrissy was fun, funny, energetic, focused, smart, beautiful, and sang like an angel. To the very end, she never gave up. She did not allow the idea that she might not get better keep her from living her life to the fullest until the very last moment. It was an honor to know her, even for just a little while. My prayers go out to her family and friends. I join with the women of the Greater Richmond Chorus to send our love.

Dear Chad, Will, Clay and Kate,
I was a neighbor of yours in Kingston Chase and I remember Chrissy's wonderful spirit and attitude. We met in playgroup and spent time talking and laughing about our kids. Your wife and mother inspired me to learn how to sew after seeing one of her projects. Peace, love and blessings be with you as you remember her.

Chad, Will, Clay and Kate - I was so sad to hear about Chrissy. My heart goes out to you all. We were one of your neighbors in Kingston Chase and I was privileged to spend many hours during playgroup with Chrissy and your children. Chrissy was one of the most generous, fun, tender hearted people I have ever met. Her spunky personality and glowing smile was contagious! May her spirit live on in your hearts and may you find comfort in knowing she is at peace now with God. We send our most sincere and heart felt sympathies and will continue to keep you in our thoughts and prayers. Chrissy, Terry, Morgan and Mason Remaley
