Doris Hawley Nichols

Mrs. Doris Hawley Nichols, 78, a long-time resident of Orange Park, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, October 6, 2010.

She was born on October 23, 1931, in Charlottesville, Virginia, the last surviving child of eight born to Henry C. Hawley and Rosa Pearl Gooch Hawley.

Mrs. Nichols was widely known throughout the Clay County community through her work in residential construction.

She was predeceased by four brothers, Luther C. and Waverly Dillon, Hugh James and Clarence E. Hawley; three sisters, Fannie Marsh, Retta Browning and Frances Sprouse.

She is survived by her sons, Wayne Nichols and his wife, Marietta, Kevin Nichols and his wife, Robin, and Doug Nichols and his wife, Linda; five grandchildren, Jeffrey, Samantha, Lauren, Steven and Zoe; a great-grandson, Kevin; her special niece, Joyce Breeden; and many other loving family members and friends.

Funeral services in celebration of her life will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 11, 2010, at the chapel of Jacksonville Memory Gardens Funeral Home in Orange Park. Mrs. Nichols will be laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer at Jacksonville Memory Gardens cemetery.

Family members will greet friends from 5 until 7 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010, at the funeral home.
