Edward Payne Obituary
He was born on October 7, 1923, in Ivy, Virginia, to the late Robert J. and Annie Belle Payne.
Mr. Payne was preceded in death by his loving wife, Dorothy B. Payne; a son, James E. Payne; and a brother, Robert "Henry" Payne.
Mr. Payne served the United States Army during World War II in 1942. Mr. Payne was a very loving and caring person in so many ways. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara A. Barber and her husband, Kenneth, of Waynesboro, Virginia; two loving sisters, Marjorie "Momma Marj" Rodriguez of Pacoima, California and Gertrude Wood of Gary, Indiana; three grandchildren, LaWanda L. Barber and her fiance, Nelson "Aaron" Kennedy, Freda M. Tate and her husband, Donald, and Jermaine J. Barber; four great-grandchildren, Jennifer L. Tate, Kenneth P. Tate, DaQuan and RaQuan Barber; a dear, close friend, Vivian J. Barber; three sisters-in-law, Louise Jackson, Charlotte Smith and Rosetta Howard; a number of loving nieces and nephews; a host of other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, November 6, 2010, at the Chapel of J. F. Bell Funeral Home. www.jfbellfuneralhome.com

Hi Dad. Another year has passed since you and Mom were here with us. I miss you dearly. The family misses you as well. Please continue to take care of each other and Eddie and other family members that have passed. I will see you again once God calls for me. I try to stay strong but sometimes it is overwhelming because you were such good parents. I will always love you and miss you.

Hello again, Dad. Years have passed since you and mom passed but it still seems like yesterday. You two were the best parents and you are truly missed by me and the entire family. I know that my Lord has you and mom in good hands along with brother Eddie, and other relatives. I feel good in knowing that you too are no longer suffering and that "we will all meet again" one day.

Dad, I am really missing you and mom. You two were the greatest parents! I lost you two within the same year; it was devastating!! God and the family helped me through your passing. I think about you all the time and view all the loving pictures that I have of you. Please give Eddie and the rest of the family a hug and a kiss from me and the family.
