Elmer Elwood Dyer

Elmer Elwood Dyer, 78, of Madison, died Monday, December 7, 2009, in Charlottesville.

He was born on October 25, 1931, in Madison, the son of the late Vander Adam Dyer and Josie Rilla Broyles Dyer. He was also preceded in death by one son, Mike Dyer; two brothers, Claude Lee Dyer and Hugh Elvin Dyer; one half sister, Sherry Dean; and one great-grandchild, Devin Carson.

He is survived by five daughters, Charlotte Pittman and her husband, Walter, of New Market; Ethel Woodward and her husband, Donnie, of Wolftown, Lois Woodward and her husband, Ted, of Wolftown, Audrey Robinson and her husband, Donald, of Rixeyville, Annette Paredes and husband, Fernando, of Hollywood, Florida; one son, Gary E. Dyer and his wife, Della, of Culpeper; two sisters, Gladys Woodward and Irene Hurt, both of Madison; 16 grandchildren, and 32 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009, at Preddy Funeral Home Chapel in Madison conducted by Pastor Jeff Shifflett. The interment will be in Etlan Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, December 9, 2009, at the funeral home.
