Eloise Gould Obituary

Published by Daily Progress from May 2 to May 6, 2010.

Eloise Dodge Gould

November 13, 1995 -

May 1, 2010

She was surrounded by her adoring parents, sister, and beloved animals on her farm.

As an artist, Eloise would create outfits that rarely matched but worked somehow. She would tap-dance, school her pony, swim and was excited about becoming a scuba diver. Eloise did everything with grace, courage, creativity and humor. She fought cancer with the same, inspiring all who came in contact with her.

Quiet, sometimes shy Eloise's smile would light up a dark day. Act sassy and laugh till the tears come. Calm a four-legged friend with a light touch. Rope swings and hoof pics, tennis ball green bedroom walls and many cats.

She is survived by her parents, Annie and Alex; her adoring sister, Annabelle; grandparents. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Melloy, Mrs. Josephine Wilkinson-Gould and predeceased by her grandfather, Edwin Gould; a host of aunts and uncles; and her cousins Daisy, James, Hillary, Meaghan, Kylan, Oliver, Crawford, Max, Fischer and Ridley.

In memory of Eloise, her family hopes that friends will support Curesearch, an organization whose focus and mission is to find a cure for childhood cancers.

A celebration of Eloise's life will be held 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, 2010, at St. Paul's Memorial Church, 1700 University Avenue, Charlottesville, Virginia.

Dearest Eloise,
We grew up side by side. You led a beautiful life that no one will forget. Everyday I continue to learn from you and the good that surrounded you. I run for you, and I always will. I remember you, I will never forget you. I'm so sorry I didn't tell you how much you mean to me before now. Your life lit a flame in the heart of everyone who knew you and you will live on in our hearts. Your determination gives us hope, and it will forever.

I'll never forget the weekend we all go snowed in at the hospital; to see Eloise dancing, laughing, and signing with Anabelle puts a huge smile on my face. Eloise was a delightful young lady and always smiled no matter what was going on. I'll always remember that beautiful smile and will miss her greatly.

Praying for you all during this time,

Gould family, I was fortunate to meet Eloise through UVA Dentistry and I wanted to let you know I think you have a very beautiful baby girl inside and out. I know some of her days were not always great ones but she kept a smile that was genuine! I pray for God's mercy and blessings on your family. Please take comfort in knowing that I was just a worker in the clinic and she made a impression on me as a lovely spirited young lady and I know she made a wonderful impression on others!

God's Blessings.
