Fred Leslie Cronk

Fred Leslie Cronk, aged 87, of Troy, VA, passed away on December 22, 2025, at the University of Virginia Hospital. Born on June 11, 1938, in Charlottesville, VA to the late Arthur and Gay Cronk. Fred was one of ten siblings: Ola May Cronk Moon, Roy Hamilton Cronk, Mildred Elizabeth Cronk Bingler, Ward Franklin Cronk, Virginia Evelyn Cronk, Andrew Ernest Cronk, John Solomon Cronk, Audrey Jean Cronk, and Vera Lucille Cronk Porter.

He was a devoted husband, father, and an exceptional grandfather, who always put his grandchildren first-whether riding bikes, swimming, or sharing laughter and jokes. He regularly attended Fluvanna County High School sporting events to support his two daughters and their teammates, serving as a second Dad and coach to many of them. Fred welcomed everyone into his life as if they were family.

Leaving school early to support his mother and siblings, Fred held various jobs before eventually working at the University of Virginia, where he dedicated 29 years before retiring. In retirement, he enjoyed yard work and cutting wood, but his favorite time was camping season, spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.

Fred is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Eloise; their daughters Tammy Cronk Kincaid and her husband Rob of Palmyra, VA, and Donna Cronk Oliver and her husband Travis of Ruckersville, VA; and their five grandchildren - Meghan and Garrett Kincaid, Kirsten, Kendra, and Jacob Oliver.

He is also survived by a longtime family friend, Freda Bell. Fred at the age of 87, was still devoted to mowing her yard.

Fred was a member of Beaver Dam Baptist Church of Troy, where he enjoyed many sermons, fellowship and the great meals served.

A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, at Holly Memorial Gardens, 3251 Seminole Trail, Charlottesville, VA 22911.
