Elsie Marie (Sprouse) Hall

Elsie Marie (Sprouse) Hall, 88, a life-long resident of Schuyler, Virginia, went home to be with her Lord on Saturday, November 28, 2009, while surrounded by her family.

She was born May 26, 1921, in Schuyler, a daughter of the late William and Nellie (Truslow) Sprouse.

Mrs. Hall was a faithful member of Schuyler Baptist Church and was a homemaker. She touched many lives in so many different ways by opening her arms and showing unconditional love to everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde James Hall; three sisters, Clara Drumheller, Vernell Snead and Mamie Kidd; and a grandson Christopher Ashley.

Survivors include six children and their spouses, Ronnie M. and his wife, Amber Hall, of Bristol, Larry B. and and his wife, Barbara Hall, of Charlottesville, Daniel J. and his wife, Soraia Hall, of Ruther Glen, Sue H. and her husband, Rodger Belew, of Scottsville, Debora H. and her husband, Gene Ashley, of Lovingston and Rebecca H. and her husband, Danny Merritt, of Montpelier; a sister Margaret Marshall of Scottsville; 21 grandchildren; one step-granddaughter; and a number of great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 1, 2009, at Thacker Brothers Funeral Home in Scottsville by the Reverends Thomas B. Fowler and Harold L. Bare. Burial will follow at Alberene Cemetery.

In keeping with her wishes, there will be no viewing or visitation.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the nurses and staff on the 8th floor Palliative Care Unit at University of Virginia Hospital.

Elsie was a very special lady. Everyone that knew her, loved her. We will miss our Aunt Elsie. The family is in our thoughts and prayers.

Sharing in your sorrow. Thinking of you and wishing I could be there to hold your hand. I remember Aunt Elsie as a kind and gentle soul. I think often about my visits there when I was young. Someone so special will never be forgotten. My heart and prayers are with all of you.

My prayers are with you. Aunt Elsie is one of the sweetest people I remember. She has a special place in heaven. I know mom and dad (Lester and Helen Hall) are waiting for her with open arms.
