Francis O. Gibson

Francis O. Gibson, 70, of Charlottesville, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Thursday, April 22, 2010, at a local health care facility.

He was born on January 22, 1940, the son of the late William Lewis and Lillie Belle Gibson.

Mr. Gibson was a member of Calvary Baptist Church and was the retired owner of Gibson Radiator Service.

He is survived by his wife, Margaret Harris Gibson; one son, Glenn Gibson; a daughter, Cynthia Wichelt and her husband, Steve; three grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Gibson, and Hunter and Briella Wichelt; a sister, Delores Frazier of Charlottesville; a brother, Lewis Gibson and his wife, Margaret, of Richmond; a brother, Franklin Gibson of Charlottesville; a sister, Brenda Hawkins of Charlottesville; a brother, Wesley Gibson and his wife, Bonnie, of Charlottesville; special friends, James Simms of Charlottesville, Allen Thomas of Florida, and Pam Cummings of Charlottesville; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Sunday, April 25, 2010, at Calvary Baptist Church with the Reverend Harry "Bill" Mills and the Reverend Roi Savaiinaea officiating. Interment will follow at Riverview Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 6 p.m., Saturday, April 24, 2010, at the Teague Funeral Home.

Mrs. Gibson would like to thank her family and friends for their love, support and care giving during Francis' illness and to Jeff Harris, a special thanks for taking care of Francis at night.

Also, a thank you to the University of Virginia doctors and nurses for their care.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the University of Virginia Heart Center or to the University of Virginia Dialysis Center c/o Health Systems Development Office, P.O. Box 800773, Charlottesville, VA 22908.
