Fred Reid Obituary

Fred William Reid Fred William Reid, 74, of Nellysford, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, August 8, 2010, at his residence.

Fred was born on September 21, 1935, in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Joseph Raymond Reid and Annie Belle Cline Reid. Beside his parents, his loving wife, Adrey M. Reid, preceded him in death; as well as two brothers and a sister.

Fred was a United States Army Veteran and a retired employee of the Wintergreen Resort.

He is survived by one daughter, Doris M. Brewer of Alexandria; four sons, Glenn Roy Showalter and David Lee Showalter, both of Nellysford, Robert M. "Bobby" Showalter of Knoxville, Tennessee, and James Larry Showalter of Winnsboro, Tennessee; 12 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with the Reverend John P. Campbell officiating. Interment will be at the Wintergreen Christian Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2010, at the funeral home.

The family suggests that memorials take the form of contributions to JABA, Nelson County Community Center, P.O. Box 297, Lovingston, VA 22949.

Fred was a kind and gentle person and was a friend to our family. He will be missed by many Loved ones. He is now resting in peace with his savior.
