James Rohmann

George "Jay" James Rohmann, 64, of Lancaster, Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, August 25, 2010.

Jay was an active member of the Reedville Fishermen's Museum in Reedville, Virginia. He was a Freelance Photographer and Photojournalist in Lexington, Virginia. Jay was also the owner of Rohmann's Sporting Goods Store in Charlottesville, Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his father, Carl "Red" Rohmann.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years Karin B. Rohmann; a mother, Mary Wilde Rohmann; seven children, Martha Carol Rohmann Greene and her husband, Max Greene, Amy Katherine Rohmann Snyder and her husband, Mark L. Snyder, Aeron Alberti and his wife, Marlene Marie Alberti, Matthew Alberti and his wife, Angela Marie Alberti, Robin E. Romer and husband, Jan Romer, Joseph Randolf Mendicino and his wife, Heather Mendicino, and Sophia Vincentine Mendicino; two sisters, Mary Elizabeth Ellis and her husband, Eric Ellis, and Margaret Hunter Parsons and her husband Theophilus Parsons; and seven grandchildren.

A memorial celebration will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, September 19, 2010, at The Reedville Fishermen's Museum in Reedville, Virginia. The family will receive friends following the celebration of Jay's life.

Memorial contributions may be made to The Reedville Fishermen's Museum, 504 Main Street Reedville, VA 22539 or Hospice of Virginia, 1328 Tappahannock Boulevard Tappahannock, VA 22560.

I have such fond memories of the many sailing trips with Jay, especially a boat delivery we did together down to Fort Lauderdale, FL. I celebrate his life ... his love of boats ... his skills of sailing ... his kindness and generosity.

We both have such happy and fond memories of Jay. He was a kind and creative person who always had a smile for everyone he met. Remembering times that we shared with Jay still brings a smile to both of us.
