Helen Eppard Marshall Haney

Helen Eppard Marshall Haney, 84, of Ruckersville, passed away on Saturday, October 30, 2010, with her family by her side.

She was born on July 31, 1926, in Charlottesville, Virginia, daughter of the late Reese and Elsie Payne Eppard.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Hollis Haney; her daughter, Virginia Marshall Lewis; three grandchildren, Lawrence M. Thompson Jr., Tamatha and Tommy Lewis Jr.

Helen was a member for many years of First Baptist Church on Park Street. Throughout the years, she worked and raised her children to be loving and caring family people. She was a great inspiration to all her family and loved by everyone she came in contact with. Helen was always a caring person who opened her door to all her family. She will be greatly missed for her great kindness and open heart to all around her.

Helen retired from Crouse-Hinds in 1989 after many years.

Helen is survived by her son, Wayne Marshall and his life partner, Sue Bush; her daughters, Brenda Marshall Powell and her husband, Bryant, Nona Marshall Jarrell and her husband, Ronnie, Wanda Haney Shelton and her life partner, M.D. Mallory, Lisa Haney Tilley and her husband, Lonny; her grandchildren, Michelle, David, Chris, JoAnne, Michael, Wendy, Tonya, Byron, Shane, Jamie, Erin, Amanda and Schuyler; her great-grandchildren, Larry, Matthew and Brandon Boone, Katie, Megan, Victoria, Corey, Jamie, Matthew, Patrick, Christina, Austin, Amber, Morgan, Emma, Christian and James.

Helen also would have been a great-great- grandmother to Natalie Rae, had she have lived until her birth.

The family will receive friends from 7 until 8 p.m. Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at the Ryan Funeral Home, 12819 Spotswood Trail, Ruckersville.

A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at the Ryan Funeral Home with Pastor Wendell Lamb officiating. Interment will follow at Stanardsville Cemetery.

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation to Dr. Jeff Davis, all the physicians, nurses and care workers at Martha Jefferson Hospital and to the Hospice of the Piedmont.

Ryan Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
